While a graduate student at the University of Kansas in the U.S., I had a year of teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant in the Japanese Language Education Program, but my first part-time teaching job was as an English conversation instructor at the NHK Toyohashi Cultural Center in Toyohashi City from April 1982 to March 1985. In addition, I began contributing to other universities as a full-fledged part-time lecturer when I was working as an assistant at the Toyohashi University of Technology, and for one year only in 1983 at the Faculty of Education, Aichi University of Education in Kariya, Aichi. After that, it was at technical colleges that were closely related to Toyohashi University of Technology, teaching at Toyota National College of Technology in Toyoda, Aichi, from April 1985 to March 1987, and at Numazu National College of Technology in Numazu, Shizuoka, from November 1989 to March 1992. At Aichi University Toyohashi Building, a private university also located in Toyohashi City, I taught at Aichi University College of Liberal Arts from April 1982 to March 1994, and at Aichi University Junior College from April 1988 to March 1992 and from April 1995 to March 1998. In March 1998, I taught English Teaching Methodology at the Faculty of Letters and Science, University of the Ryukyus in Naha, OKinawa, although in an intensive lecture style. After moving to Ritsumeikan University, I taught at the Faculty of Integrated Human Studies, Kyoto University in Kyoto from April 2000 to March 2001, the Organization for the Promotion of Research and Development of Higher Education, Kyoto University from April 2006 to March 2010, the Faculty of Culture and Information Studies, Doshisha University in Kyotanabe, Kyoto, from April 2007 to September 2008, and the Kyoto Notre Dame Women’s University Graduate School of Humanities and Sciences in Kyoto, and lastly, Nagahama Institute of Bio-Science and Technology in Nagahama, Shiga, from September 2020 to March 2022. Undergraduate courses basically taught the four skills of general English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), while graduate courses taught basic theory and practice of speech communication.

米国のカンサス大学大学院在籍中に日本語教育プログラムのTeaching Assistant としての1年の教育経験はあったが、非常勤講師としての仕事は豊橋市にあるNHK豊橋文化センターでの1982年4月から1985年3月までの英会話講師が最初であった。さらに、本格的な非常勤講師として他大学への貢献を始めたのは、豊橋技術科学大学に助手として働いていた時期で、1983年度一年かぎりの愛知教育大学教育学部（刈谷市）であった。その後は、豊橋駅技術科学大学との関連性が高い工業高等専門学校でのもので、1985年4月から1987年3月までの豊田工業高等専門学校（豊田市）、1989年11月から1992年3月まで沼津工業高等専門学校（沼津市）で教えた。同じ豊橋市にある私立大学の愛知大学豊橋校舎では、1982年4月から1994年3月までの愛知大学教養部、1988年4月から 1992年3月までと1995年4月から1998年3月まで愛知大学短期大学部で教えた。集中講義のスタイルではあったが、1998年3月に琉球大学文理学部（那覇市）で英語教授法を担当した。立命館大学に移籍してからは、2000年4月から2001年3月まで京都大学総合人間学部（京都市）、2006年4月から2010年3月までの京都大学高等教育研究開発推進機構、2007年4月から2008年9月までの同志社大学文化情報学部（京田辺市）、2002年4月から2014年3月までの京都ノートルダム女子大学大学院人間文化研究科（京都市）、そして最後となったのは、2020年9月から2022年3月までの長浜バイオ大学（長浜市）であった。学部での授業は、基本的に一般英語の４技能（聴く、話す、読む、書く）を教えるもので、大学院ではスピーチ・コミュニケーションの基礎理論と実践を教えた。
